From 29 November to 1 December 2024, the International High-Level Forum on Child Health Promotion was held in Nanning, China, organized by the Professional Committee on Children’s Health and Development of the Asian Society of Sports Science. Scholars from various countries discussed new directions in child health development, professional standards for children’s sports and health accompaniment, and the role of physical activity in health promotion, fostering global cooperation.

On 30 November, Prof. Dr. Liu Xiaojun, Head of the Sub-committee, delivered the opening speech and a keynote titled “Research on the Development of Occupational Standards for Children’s Sports and Health Accompaniment (Asia).” Dr. Liu emphasized the importance of talent training, unified professional standards, and their role in aligning international research, improving professional quality, and enhancing children’s sports and health services.

Several experts shared insights on child development and health promotion during the forum. Dr. Vorapoj Promasatayaprot from Mahasarakham University, Thailand, emphasized the community’s critical role in early childhood development through community-based monitoring and promotion systems. Dr. Chaipat Lawsirirat of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, explored sustainable pathways for elite youth sports development. Dr. Chairat Choosakul from Mahasarakham University discussed the role of physical activity in promoting children’s learning and skill development. Dr. Kritchapol Arsapakdee from Kasetsart University presented cross-cultural studies on promoting physical activity and mental health in children and adolescents, while Dr. Edwin Chong from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, highlighted strategies for promoting children’s health through sport and physical activity across diverse cultural contexts.

Dr. Hua Yongmin, Secretary General of the Asian College of Exercise and Sports Science, delivered a report on the construction and development of professional committees, congratulated the establishment of the Sub-committee on Children’s Health and Development, and offered guidance for future work. Forum participants praised the event for its informative and forward-looking discussions, which enhanced their understanding of child health and development and provided insights into global practices for promoting children’s health.

The success of this forum has further promoted international co-operation in the field of child health and development, fostered exchanges and mutual understanding among scholars around the globe, and worked together to support and safeguard the healthy growth of children in Asian countries.
