The AGM commenced with opening remarks by President Dr. Fabian Lim. Dr. Lim highlighted the society’s accomplishments over the past year and outlined his vision for ACESS’s continued growth in the coming years. He emphasised the importance of continuity of the work done by current ACESS Management Committee (MC) members by future MC members.

Reports on research and academic development, educations and forums, and membership were then delivered by Vice Presidents Dr. Ryoichi Nagatomi, Dr. Chaipat Lawsirirat and Dr. Raymond So respectively. Notably, ACESS has experienced a consistent rise in membership and has fostered increased partnerships with institutions and academic journals.

Treasurer Dr. Daniel Lee then presented financial and audit reports for the previous year, followed by Ms. Angela Kong, who proposed amendments to the constitution. A voting process was then conducted involving MC members and full members.

Dr. Edwin Chong then summarised outcomes from the strategic meeting held in Chiang Mai earlier in May, emphasising strategic directions for future endeavours.

Dr. So then introduced ACESS’ very first student representative, Mr. Joel Pang. Mr Joel Pang, a PhD student of The University of Western Australia, expressed gratitude for his nomination and outlines his aspirations to advocate for the student body, aiming to be its primary voice.

Dr. Pipit Pitriani and Dr. Nguyen Phu then contributed some inputs to ACESS future plans. Dr. Phu shared his plans to bring ACESS to the Sports and Sports Medicine in Vietnam. The members also heard from Dr. Bhirau Wilaksono, a longevity physician from Indonesia, on how he would help promote ACESS to the sports and exercise science and medicine community in Indonesia.

Before the meeting ended, Carol, a representative by ACESS’s main sponsor, J&M Medical and Healthcare Limited shared a few words of appreciation of ACESS in their efforts to develop exercise and sports science in Asia.
